Today the city has 80 religious communities of 16 confessions. There are two monasteries, five brotherhoods, one sisterhood, a religious school of the Vitebsk Eparchy of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, three charity missions of three confessions, two eparchies, and two oblast religious associations.
Sixty communities practice traditional religions which account for 80% of the total number of registered communities.
Four specimens of architecture have been restored. These include the cathedral of the Patronage of the Mother of God, Holy Resurrection Cathedral, Holy Assumption cathedral and Holy Annunciation temple.
